The EDI 811 Bill Format

This specialized electronic bill format was originated and is maintained by the Telephone Bill Work Group (TBWG) a group of representatives from many telecommunications companies and their customers.

Officially known as  the ANSI ASC X12 Consolidated Service/Statement Transaction Set (811 TS) for complex telecommunications billing, this is the EDI bill format provided by several large telephone companies.

"Everyone gets a bill from their telecommunications provider. Telecommunications bills for business customers can be complex and are often very, very large. For some time, billing customers wished for an alternative to the stacks of paper bills being received each month. In the days when a customer received bills from only one service provider, a proprietary electronic file worked fairly well. In today's business environment, when a business customer receives many bills in many different proprietary formats, even processing electronic data becomes very cumbersome. Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) offers a wonderful opportunity for trading partners to streamline their billing communications needs through the use of a public standard."

The above is a quote from The Telephone Bill Work Group (TBWG) website.  For more information please click here

What's missing when you get an 811 bill from your telco?

Most vendors that provide the bill in the 811 format, do not provide the practical tools necessary to load the bill into a database for viewing and processing.

FACtt Telecom Bill Management software gives you all you need to load, process and view 811 format bills from multiple vendors...in a single database.

ASCII Bill Formats and Vendor Provided Billing Software

Telco vendors that have chosen not to provide electronic bills using the industry accepted standard 811 format, will often provide electronic bills in ASCII format, using a variety of table structures.  Some of these can be loaded into the vendor's proprietary software for viewing.

Each vendor compiles and presents their bill data following their own unique set of rules.  They may even provide proprietary software for loading and viewing the bill.  Unfortunately each vendor's software is unique to their data.  Some of these software packages limit access to your data by providing reports that are pre-defined by the vendor to meet the vendors interpretation of the needs of a broad spectrum of clients.

For you, multiple vendors means multiple software and billing formats.

So how do you tie it all together?

FACtt Telecom Bill Management software gives you all you need to load, process and view ASCII format bills from multiple vendors....in a single database with a single user interface.

By implementing a single, vendor-neutral, bill management system, you are free to change vendors at anytime.

NSB and Bell Canada's Single Source Agreements

Currently Bell Canada is the only Canadian Telco that offers electronic bills using the internationally accepted 811TS  format.  Bell Canada customers with offices across the country can receive electronic 811 bill as a single, consolidated bill through Stentor's National Summary Billing group, or through signing a Single Source Agreement with Bell Canada.

Customers of other Canadian Telco's can receive electronic bills in ASCII format to load into FACtt, or they can pressure their telco to adopt the international EDI standards for electronic telco bills.

FACtt loads and processes your large and small Bell bills along with all your other vendor's bills.

FACtt Telecom Bill Management software gives you all you need to load, process and view Bell Canada bills and other vendor bills .... in a single database with a single user interface.
